Jersey City, NJ, Hudson County, events, wine tastings, foodies

Just as the harvest season winds down this fall, the inaugural After the Harvest Wine & Food event, presented by Provident Bank, will be launched at the Culinary Arts Institute at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City.

On Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 1:00-6:00 pm, member wineries of the Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA), the Culinary Arts Institute and Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development will team up for this new fall event.

Wine, Food, Music, More

The After the Harvest Wine & Food event will feature samplings from at least six New Jersey wineries; tastings, culinary pairings, wine tutorials and live music. The event is the first element of a new partnership between the Culinary Arts Institute of Hudson County Community College and the Garden State Wine Growers Association. Tickets are $25 and include an event wristband and a free wine glass. Non-drinker tickets are $10. To purchase tickets, click here. Attendees must be at least 21 years old and must be present to pick up their wristband (proper ID is required).

“We are very excited to launch this partnership with the Culinary Arts Institute, to have Provident Bank as an event sponsor and to bring New Jersey wine to the Jersey City region,” said Tom Cosentino, executive director of the Garden State Wine Growers Association, the advocacy group for the state’s wine industry. “By teaming up with the Culinary Arts Institute, we are not only producing a unique wine and culinary experience with this event, we are also establishing a long-term relationship with the school that will allow us to have our winemakers visit and give talks on New Jersey wines and to introduce our products to the great restauranteurs in the region."

"New Jersey wineries produce some wonderful wines. Having a chance to educate the public in a fun format is exciting for the Culinary Arts Institute," said Dr. Eric Friedman, Vice President for Academic Affairs for Hudson County Community College.

Wine Industry Advocate

The Garden State Wine Growers Association is the statewide organization for the advocacy and promotion of the New Jersey wine industry. Founded in 1984, the association has driven exponential growth through wine education initiatives, cooperative marketing campaigns, and a slate of annual events dedicated to taking our wines across New Jersey, and encouraging enthusiasts to visit our wineries. Comprised of over 50 members, the GSWGA produces wine events and wine trail weekends in participating winery tasting rooms statewide, to market the locally produced wines of the Garden State. The Association also addresses the legislative affairs and public relations of the state’s wine industry.
