Jersey City Police & Fire 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive

Jersey City, NJ, blood drives

The Jersey City Police & Fire 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, 2 Exchange place, Jersey City, New Jersey.

As part of the nationwide partnership with 911Day.org, an organization supporting the nation’s largest day of charitable engagement, the American Red Cross and Suburban Propane are partnering once again with the Jersey City Police and Fire Departments to host the Jersey City Blood Drive. Friends and family members of those lost on September 11, 2001 are invited to partake in this special event to provide a way to commemorate the occasion while giving back to the community.

Jersey City was the first point of refuge for hundreds of people who evacuated the World Trade Center and lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001, with Jersey City playing a critical role in the response and recovery efforts. The event places an emphasis on community preparedness.

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, Suburban Propane CEO Michael Stivala and representatives from Suburban Propane and the Red Cross will be at the blood drive, as well as blood and platelet donors from the Jersey City area.

Summer vacations and travel can contribute to reduced availability for people to give blood or platelets. However, patients don’t get a summer holiday or vacation from needing lifesaving blood. Knowing this, Suburban Propane is supporting the Red Cross' increased efforts this summer to help ensure blood is available for patients in need. The Red Cross relies on volunteer donors for the nearly 14,000 blood donations needed every day to support patients at about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
