For the sixth consecutive year, Kings Food Markets (Kings) has partnered with the Hambletonian Festival of Racing at The Meadowlands to create the Summer Festival of Racing food drive, supporting the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
Kings encourages racetrack attendees to bring non-perishable food items between July 14th and August 4th when attending the $1 Million Meadowlands Pace, Hambletonian Eliminations, and the $1.5 Million Hambletonian Finals. Attendees that bring a non-perishable food item, will receive a commemorative poster.
Kings and The Community FoodBank of New Jersey have been partners for over 28 years working together in providing food for the hungry. With more than 2,800 pounds of food donated in the past two years, the food bank distributes food to over 1,400 non-profit organizations. These include soup kitchens, emergency pantries, shelters, senior meal programs, low-income day care centers and group homes for the disabled. This sponsorship is part of Kings’ “Act Against Hunger” initiative, a commitment to end hunger in the New Jersey region by providing food donations, financial support, and education on the issue.
The Meadowlands Racetrack is located at 50 State Route 120 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Hambletonian Eliminations are Saturday, July 28, 2012. Gates open at 5:00 pm and the first race is at 7:00 pm. The Hambletonian Finals are Saturday, August 4, 2012. Gates open 10:00 am and the first race starts at noon.
